USNA Fleet Details

As per the Unity Accords, signed in 2224, The USNA (The Alliance) military division was created along with the foundation of the USNA itself. The Alliance Parliament realized that any venture into the final frontier could possibly be met with unexpected confrontations in which humanity would have to be adequately prepared. With new-found resources of dozens of systems along with the creation of Unity Station and various Orbital Shipyards, a massive construction effort went underway one what is now called the Alliance Fleet. Hundreds of thousands of spacecraft were constructed, each in varying classes, sizes, and specifications.

With the introduction of The Alliance into the United Planetary Federation and it's new role as majority defense holder in the UPF, even more pressure was on the Alliance to provide adequate security forces for not only itself but the rest of the UPF as well. The following isn't a numerical amount of ships currently present in the Alliance Fleet but rather visuals and details of various ships within the fleet:

Fighters

Length: 20 Meters
Basic space warfare fighting unit. Can operate in either space or atmosphere. Each fighter comes with it's own serial number but pilots personally name their fighter.

Bombers

Length: 18 Meters
Come more armored and boost more firepower than their fighter counterpart at an expense of manuverability. Also named personally by their pilots.

Heavy Bombers

Length: 39 Meters
Upgraded variant of current bomber, requires two pilots. Increase armor, firepower and increased tonnage. Units named after fallen soldiers.

Frigate

Length: 291 Meters
Small attack units. Strong against fighters and bombers but weak against larger ships. Units named after famous battles in history.

Scout Ship

Length: 140 Meters
Small scouting and reconaissance ships. Boast stealth capabilities in enemy territory. Very fast and highly manuverable yet with little firepower.

Cruiser

Length: 2,286 Meters
The Alliance's primary attack unit. Boasts excellent shields and firepower. Incapable of entering atmosphere due to high mass. Named after cities on Caleston.

Fleet Carrier

Length: 2,626 Meters
Large carriers that house hundreds of fighters, bombers, and heavy bombers. Strong defenses but lack in firepower. Named after famous people in history.

Dreadnought

Length: 3,217 Meters
Very strong and large combat unit. Upgraded version of Cruiser and houses dozens of fighters. Named after adjectives of Corsican (English) language.

Titan

Length: 6,491 Meters
Massive combat units that house more squadrons than a Fleet Carrier. Very powerful with strong defenses and usually the primary flagship of most fleets. Named after bodies of water on Caleston.

Leviathan

Length: 11,713 Meters
Gigantic combat units that boast ten times as many fighters/ bombers/ heavy bombers than a Fleet carrier. Extremely powerful with near indestructable defenses. Slowest moving of all units yet are the most powerful units in the known Galaxy. Only three so far in existance. Named after mountains on Caleston.

Many anti-war activists sought to reduce funding for such projects as the Leviathans and Titans. They questioned the real value of such a costly unit, argueing that such units are overkill. The debate went as high as Alliance Parliament but was eventually defeated. Proponents argued that while the fleet was strong to begin with, massive warships would guarantee Alliance dominance in space and would serve as a 'nuclear deterrent.' With the completion of the Titans and Leviathans, USNA priority shifted from military dominace to explorattion and economics with the Military producing ships at a relatively lower rate.

Once the Alliance was accepted in the UPF and took on the majority of defense responsibilities, including leading of the Department of Defense, the Alliance resumed production of military vehicles back to post-Unity Accords levels.

Looks like the Bouneyes have met their match (The Bouneyes of Boneila have more warships, but depend on numbers rather than firepower for the most part)

lol, no Jedi Knights here. Just epic warships. Yet, we've got no quarrels with the civilizations of Galactic Space.

Could be fear

No fear, it's simply wise policy. The Alliance as a whole actually supports a 'family' with other unions. We seek to unify ourselves with other civilizations of the United Planetary Federation and would proudly die for others.

I liked the spaceships - Anyone know where they are manufactured?

A majority of Alliance ships are constructed utilizing Unity Station's Construction Facilities located on the outside perimeter of the ringed-station. Many smaller craft such as fighters and bombers are constructed in various orbital stations and construction facilities in USNA space.

Due to the ease of transport between space and an atmosphere, many coporations have moved manufacturing capabilities into space, as it is easier to manufacture in a zero gravity environment.
